The quest for great local shrimp!

Local shrimp is best at Gerald's Pig and Shrimp, 1115 US Hwy 80 E. on Tybee Island. Try it fried, broiled or blackened. My wife loves the G-Special with shrimp, pulled pork or brisket, a BBQ rib, hush puppies and a side. Gerald's is only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Tybee Market IGA, 1111 Butler Avenue, always sells fresh peel and eat shrimp but it is not always locally sourced. It was available on our last visit so we bought a pound. It only needs to boil a few minutes. It's great sprinkled with Old Bay seasoning, served with cocktail sauce on the side.
